The 2026 BAFTA longlists have been revealed, with One Battle After Another, Hamnet and Sinners as front runners for this year’s award nominations.
One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, has 16 spots on the longlists, including Best Film, Director and Leading Actor.
Both Chloe Zhao’s Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners have 14 places on the longlists. Hamnet is up for Best Film, Outstanding British Film, and Director for Chloe Zhao, to name just a few. Jessie Buckley is also up for Leading Actress, and Paul Mescal for Supporting Actor. Amongst Sinners’ places on the longlists are Best Film, Original Screenplay and Director for Ryan Coogler. Michael B. Jordan is on the longlist for Leading Actor, and Wunmi Mosaku is up for Supporting Actress.
Other notable films in this year’s BAFTA film longlists are Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme, with 13 places on the longlists, and Yorgos Lanthimos’ Bugonia, with 12 places. Marty Supreme’s longlists include Best Film, Director for Safdie, and Leading Actor for Timothée Chalamet. Bugonia’s longlists include Best Film, Director for Lanthimos, and Leading Actress for Emma Stone.
Also included on the BAFTA longlist for Best Film are: The Ballad of Wallis Island, Frankenstein, I Swear, Nuremberg and Sentimental Value.
15 films are listed in the longlist for Outstanding British Film: 28 Years Later, Ballad of a Small Player, The Ballad of Wallis Island, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, The Choral, Die My Love, Goodbye June, H is for Hawk, Hamnet, I Swear, Mr Burton, Pillion, The Roses, Steve and Warfare.
The next round of voting is currently underway, and the full 2026 BAFTA nominations will be announced on Tuesday 27 January.
This year’s BAFTA Awards Ceremony will be hosted by Alan Cumming on Sunday 22 February 2026, and will be available to watch live.
