Box Office: The Jungle V.I.P.

The Weekend Round-up 

The Jungle Book swung into the top spot, smashing all expectations and opening with a huge £9.9m. That’s already almost half of the final total of Disney’s live-action Cinderella (£21.3m) and over half the final total of 2014’s Maleficent (£19.5m). With no major family film released until The Angry Birds Movie on 13 May, it has a great chance of overtaking Deadpool’s £37.8m to become the highest grossing film of 2016 to date. 38.3% of The Jungle Book’s box office was from 3D presentations, which is very high for a family film. Box Office: The Huntsman Wins The War

The Weekend Round-up  

The Huntsman Winter’s War topped the box office, thanks to a Monday opening that delivered £1.5m in previews. It has so far banked £3m, which is not far behind Snow White and The Huntsman’s opening weekend of £3.5m, but that only had two days or previews that accounted for £976k. Read more

THE BFG, directed by Steven Spielberg based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl, is the exciting tale of a young London girl (Ruby Barnhill) and the mysterious Giant (Mark Rylance) who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country.

Cinema ad spend up 26 per cent in Q1 2016

Digital Cinema Media (DCM) has today reported a huge 26 per cent rise year-on-year in cinema ad spend in Q1 2016. Since the beginning of the year, DCM has seen new advertisers adding cinema to their AV campaigns, an increase in bookings for premium positions and a surge in bookings from retail, motors, finance and food category brands during the Easter period.

Box Office: Batman V Superman V Eddie The Eagle

The Weekend Round-up 

After the record-breaking heights of last weekend, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice came back to earth with a bump on its second weekend, falling 68% to £4.7m. Despite that chunky drop, after ten days in cinemas it has banked an impressive £27.8m. Read more
