It may be the halfway point of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity but there’s still plenty to do and see.

Below, DCM offers its tips on what to attend if you’re lucky enough to have a delegate pass, with some great seminars with a focus on film.

Wednesday 21 June, 12pm, Inspiration Stage

Is entertainment the most powerful way to make a difference?

HOME is a BAFTA-winning short film, supported by the UN, which is changing the conversation around the worst refugee crisis in history. This session will offer an exclusive screening of the film and hear some of the team behind it discuss why they used an entertainment property to communicate such an important message, and how creativity can make a difference in today’s world. Anthony Austin, Deputy ECD of BBH London and CEO of Black Sheep Studios, will be joined on stage by the film’s Writer and Director, Daniel Mulloy, and international actress Arta Dobroshi, who was an Executive Producer on HOME. Dobroshi is a former refugee herself, and in 2008 made history by becoming the first ever Kosovan actress to walk the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.

Wednesday 21 June, 1pm, Lumiere Theatre

Telling a Good Story: Ian McKellen with The Brooklyn Brothers

Ian McKellen has embodied some of the world’s best-loved characters from Hamlet to Sherlock Holmes, from Marvel Comic’s Magneto to Tolkien’s Gandalf. He's taken on challenges in work and in life, to tell stories he believes need to be told, both factual and fiction. In this session, Jackie Stevenson, founding partner of The Brooklyn Brothers will sit down with Sir Ian to discuss how he combines creative fulfilment with doing the right thing, which often proves to be the smart thing. Together they'll identify lessons we need to learn from future generations if we’re to build a brighter, better future.
