The Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF), the charity of film and television industries, hosted their CTBF fundraising Golf Day on 12 September after the success and excellent feedback from their event last year.

Fifty players from the industry powered through the early morning drizzle to take on The Lambourne Golf Club course in the hope of leaving with a team or individual trophy, whilst helping to raise funds for the organisation.

The 18-hole, 6,798 yard par-72 golf course, designed by world-renowned course architect Donald Steel, and set in 180 acres of breathtakingly tranquil parkland in Burnham, offered the perfect setting for some healthy competition between, and expectedly more so within, the teams.

Players kicked off their day with bacon rolls and pots of tea and coffee to help them round the course before they were treated to lunch, a tombola and the all-important prize giving ceremony. In 1st place, and the winner of the CTBF Individual Trophy, was Derren Hamilton of Handle Recruitment, followed by DCM’s Jeremy Kolesar in 2nd place and Vue’s Alan McNair in 3rd.

As the winning team of the day, Handle Recruitment also took the Bostock Team Trophy with JCA TV narrowly missing out by two points.

Awards were also given to Technicolor’s Matt Adams for ‘The Longest Drive’ and Roland Jones of Vue Entertainment for ‘Nearest The Pin’, while Richard Roach of Osborne Clarke and Derren Hamilton, who by this point had gathered his fair share of awards, won awards in the 2’s Competition.

Despite the weather, players left the golf club on a high, critiquing each other’s swings and already discussing tactics for their next meeting on the course. Based on the success of this year’s and last year’s event, players should expect the CTBF’s Golf Day to become an annual showdown. Handle Recruitment – don’t get too comfortable…
