Distributor Slate Days, the UK’s top networking event for film distributors and exhibitors, returns to Picturehouse Central on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th September for a two- day schedule packed with presentations and 1 to 1 meetings.
Funded by the BFI Film Audience Network (FAN) with National Lottery funding, the event is organised by Film Hub London and Film Hub Scotland and is part of the FAN’s wider membership development programme. The event welcomes distributors and exhibitors from across the UK and creates opportunities for the two industries to forge stronger ties and explore new collaborative opportunities.
Whilst the first day will see distributors present marketing and audience development plans for new titles, the second day will be dedicated to ‘speed dating’ meetings between distributors, exhibitors and specialists. These concise, individual meetings will allow attendees to discuss potential opportunities as well as timely and relevant topics in cinema such as diversity, inclusion and access.
Distributors of all sizes will present a selection of features to around 300 exhibitors ranging from multiplex operators, indie cinemas and local film clubs. Amongst those returning to this year’s Slate Days are Altitude Film Distribution, Curzon Artificial Eye, Dartmouth Films, Dogwoof, Lionsgate UK Ltd, MUBI, New Wave, Paramount Pictures, Pecadillo Pictures, Picturehouse Entertainment, Sky Cinema, STUDIOCANAL, Twentieth Century Fox, Universal Pictures, Vertigo Releasing, Verve Pictures and Warner Bros. An array of independents including the ICA, Parkland Entertainment, MusicFilmNetwork, Together Films and Kaleidoscope will present for the first time.
Adrian Wootton OBE, Chief Executive of Film London and the British Film Commission, said: “Returning year after year, Distributor Slate Days has become highly anticipated in the industry calendar, enforcing its reputation as the UK’s annual event dedicated to distributors and exhibitors. This year, we are thrilled to welcome even more independent distributors which, alongside returning majors, will make for an exciting and diverse programme. I would like to thank Film Hub Scotland, the BFI Film Audience Network, Picturehouse Cinemas and our generous sponsors for their commitment and enthusiasm toward Slate Days.”
Jaki McDougall, Chief Executive of Glasgow Film, Film Hub Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be able to engage BFI Film Audience Network members from across the UK at Distributor Slate Days. It’s vital to bring exhibitors and distributors together, and this collaborative, creative approach to member support and development will enable the sector to thrive, forging important and productive relationships.”
Attending exhibitors must be part of the BFI Film Audience Network. For more information and to register for the event click here. Registration deadline for exhibitors is Wednesday 4th September.
