It was a big night for domestic talent in the film industry on Sunday as Ken Loach’s I, Daniel Blake was named Outstanding British Film and Dev Patel picked up the Supporting Actor gong at this year’s BAFTA Awards in London.

But there was a barrage of home-grown winners across a range of categories proving the Brits can do it just as well as their Hollywood counterparts when it comes to wowing an audience on the big screen.

DCM exhibitor partner, Curzon Cinemas, was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to British Cinema accolade at the Royal Albert Hall and the company’s CEO, Philip Knatchbull, was in attendance to accept paying tribute to the power of storytelling through cinema.

Another big winner close to DCM’s heart was the short film Home, which won a mask for British Short Film. The emotional drama stars Jack O’Connell and Holliday Grainger and flips the topical idea of immigration on its head with affecting results.

Thousands of men, women and children struggle to get into Europe as a comfortable English family sets out on what appears to be a holiday in the film, directed by Daniel Mulloy and produced in partnership with BBH’s production arm, Black Sheep Studios and Somesuch.

Digital Cinema Media helped to bring the trailer for the film to cinemas, which you can view below.
