Box Office Round-up
Toy Story 5 delivered the best second weekend of the year, adding £9.2m at the UK box office, which is down just 36% from last weekend. That takes its total after two weekends in cinemas to £29m and it’s already the fifth biggest film of 2026 to date. With the school summer holidays still three weeks away, there’s plenty more to come too. Toy Story 4 finished its run with £66.2m, which is a realistic target for this fifth film.
Supergirl opened in second with £2.7m, which includes £576k from Thursday previews. It’s not quite a fair comparison but, last year Superman opened with £7m. Director Craig Gillespie’s last film of this scale in cinemas was 2021’s well-liked Cruella, which finished on £9.5m, which would be a good target for Supergirl.
Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day added £882k on its third weekend, which is down 49% from last weekend and takes its total to £10.8m. It has now overtaken Spielberg’s 2021 West Side Story (£7.8m) and is his best performing film since 2018’s Ready Player One (£16.2m).
jackass: best and last opened in fourth with £781k. This is purportedly the final Jackass film (hence the title), so you would expect fans to be a bit more keen to see it. The previous Jackass film in cinemas, 2022’s Jackass Forever, opened with £2.1m and finished its run with £6.3m.
Obsession rounded out the top five, adding £585k on its seventh weekend, down just 37%. It’s not looking like it will surpass last year’s biggest horror, The Conjuring: Last Rites, which finished on £18.3m, but it’s still an incredible result, especially for a film that cost $750k to make.
Outside of the top five, anime title Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity opened in seventh with £211k. This title is only set to be in cinemas this week, so it’s not expected to add much more.
