The Secret Life of Pets made it three weeks at the top as it held off a spirited challenge from The Legend of Tarzan. The Illumination animation fell just 24% to £3.6m, taking its total to £22.3m. In the next week it will overtake Zootropolis (£23.8m) to become the biggest animation of 2016 to date, a title it will only hold for a few weeks as Finding Dory is let loose in UK cinemas on 29 July. The Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF) raised a record-breaking amount of £145,000 at its annual London Party on Thursday 30 June as the industry came together to celebrate at London’s Gibson Hall.

The Weekend Round-up
After comfortably topping the box office last weekend, The Secret Life of Pets held onto the top spot for a second week, holding off the strong challenge from Absolutely Fabulous. The Illumination animation added £4.7m, a drop of just 20% from last week, and it has now banked an impressive £16.6m. With the school holidays three weeks away, there should be plenty more to come. Digital Cinema Media (DCM) has today announced new senior appointments to its sales team with the addition of Louise Youll, Business Director, and Antonio Garcia, Client Director, as well as a promotion for Jeremy Kolesar (Head of Innovation) to Creative Business Director. All will report to DCM’s Sales Director, Davina Barker.
