Sales FAQs

How do I plan a cinema advertising campaign?

You can plan a cinema advertising campaign around a number of factors, factors such as your target audience, campaign dates, films, locations and budget.

DCM's Campaign Planner provides an interactive way to plan a campaign, and identify the right films, audiences and opportunities for you.

What cinemas are in DCM's portfolio?

DCM has an 85% admissions share of all cinemas across the UK.

Its cinema partners include major operators such as Cineworld, ODEON, Vue and Picturehouse, as well as The Light, Omniplex and a range of independent cinemas.

You can use our Find A Cinema tool to explore our cinemas.

How much does it cost to run an advert in the cinema?

The cost of cinema advertising depends on a number of factors, such as buying routes, target audience, films, locations, campaign dates, advert length and any premium positions or additional services required.

DCM's standard ratecard is based on a Cost Per Thousand (CPT) model and a standard 30-second commercial. Different buying routes have different CPTs, while premium positions such as Gold Spot, Silver Spot and Bronze Spot are charged at an additional premium.

For the latest cinema advertising costs and rates, please see the DCM Ratecard.

What is an Audience Guaranteed Package (AGP)?

An Audience Guaranteed Package, or AGP, is a cinema advertising buying route designed to provide broad coverage of the cinema audience during a selected campaign period.

An AGP runs across a variety of films showing during the campaign dates and provides guaranteed admissions. AGPs can be bought nationally or regionally, making them suitable for advertisers looking to achieve scale and reach a broad cinema audience.

DCM also offers more targeted AGPs, including packages focused on 16–34s, ABC1 adults, premium audiences and families. Find out more here.

Can DCM convert my existing TV or video advert for cinema?

Yes. DCM provides a production and conversion service to adapt existing commercials for cinema.

The service can convert advertising into cinema-ready Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs), including formats such as 2D and 3D digital cinema and IMAX where applicable.

Please view our Production Process for more information.

Does my cinema advert need to be approved or cleared before it can run?

Yes. Cinema advertising is subject to industry clearance requirements.

The Cinema Advertising Association (CAA) operates the cinema advertising clearance process, and some advertising may also require certification from the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).

Find out more here.

How are cinema admissions tracked?

We receive live exhibitor admissions each morning for the previous 24 hours which are then reconciled against individual campaigns, allowing us to provide regular updates on how a campaign is tracking.

What if the film I have booked into changes it's release date?

Film release dates can sometimes change, and so DCM has processes in place to manage film movements.

Depending on the circumstances, a campaign may move in line with the new release date, a new relevant film may replace the original title, or admissions may be banked for a later date.

DCM can advise on the available options if a film's release date moves after a campaign has been booked.

What if my campaign fails to deliver?

All attempts will be made to ensure admissions are delivered. This may include any or all of the following: opening up titles selected, broadening regions or extending the campaign.

Admissions that aren’t delivered will be banked and will be able to be used again within a 12 month period. Please speak to your DCM Rep for more information.
