Digital Cinema Media (DCM) joined forces with D&AD this year, the British educational charity which exists to promote excellence in design and advertising, to discover and foster new talent through the D&AD New Blood Awards. This year’s nominations have now been announced and the prestigious awards ceremony will take place on 3 July.

Ten candidates have been short-listed for the DCM brief, with six being nominated to appear in D&AD’s 2014 book and the remaining four competing for the coveted D&AD yellow pencil.

Winning a D&AD New Blood Award puts a young creative on the path to the brightest of futures. Whether you’re a copywriter or photographer, a digital specialist, product designer or something in-between – there’s a category for everyone.

Entrants to the awards were asked to create a 25 second ident for DCM’s cinemas, which needed to visualise emotion, literally showing how film feels.

Members of the jury included Shane Walter, co-founder and creative director at onedotzero, Laura Gregory, Founder at Great Guns and Zoe Jones, Marketing Director, Digital Cinema Media.

On the D&AD New Blood Awards, Zoe said: “It’s been really inspiring to be part of the D&AD New Blood Awards this year. The creativity and filmcraft displayed impressed the whole judging panel.”

Other brands that provided briefs for this year’s D&AD New Blood Awards included asos, Nokia, Sky, The Body Shop, Unilever and WPP.
