Box Office: Tom Cruise has still got it

Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation opened in the top spot with £5.4m, which included £1m from Thursday previews. Even the sunny weather couldn’t stop the Tom Cruise-led franchise to the ninth highest Friday to Sunday opening of the year. In terms of the other films in the franchise, it’s the third biggest opening in the series, behind MI3 (£4.8m) and MI2 (£4.6m). Read more

The UK Cinema Association announces plans for one-day conference

The UK Cinema Association has announced plans for a 2015 one-day conference. Following last year’s inaugural event at the Cineworld O2 in Greenwich, which looked at issues around digital cinema technology, the Association sought views on key topics for a follow-up event in 2015 and the issue of marketing and how to grow cinema audiences and revenue came out top as the most popular suggestion.

Screen Awards 2015 - Entry Deadline Extended

The Screen Awards are back for a sixth year, celebrating the very best of marketing, distribution and exhibition in the film industry. To give entrants more time to finish applying, the deadline has been extended to 31 July 2015.

Inside Out always looked like the stand-out animated title of the year and it kicked off with a very impressive £7.4m, which is the sixth highest opening weekend of the year so far. It’s also the fourth highest Friday to Sunday opening of any Pixar film. Read more
