As a founding partner of Advertising Week Europe, Digital Cinema Media (DCM) is very proud that Picturehouse Central, one of DCM’s flagship cinemas, is the new venue for 2016 with hundreds of thought leadership and networking events taking place in this inspirational setting. 

Once again, DCM is taking part in key sessions throughout the week including a Q&A hosted by DCM’s Head of Film, Tom Linay with Actor and Director, Dexter Fletcher, as well as our CEO, Karen Stacey, participating in a discussion on the advertising jargon detox at Bloomberg Media’s panel discussion. Finally, we also bring you THE official movie night of the week, courtesy of our monthly film club, DCM Tuesdays.

The Nostalgia Resurgence - the power of the past
Wednesday 20 April, 12:15pm, The Guardian Stage, Picturehouse Central

2015 saw Jurassic World and Star Wars: The Force Awakens become two of the biggest films of all time. What do they have in common? Apart from huge box office numbers, they play on our sense of nostalgia, a feeling that continues to thrive.

One of the best examples is the big British hit of 2016, Eddie The Eagle, which recreates the period leading up to the 1988 Olympics through costume, production design and music. Director Dexter Fletcher is well respected throughout the industry, as an actor and director. He joins DCM’s Head of Film, Tom Linay, to discuss the success of Eddie The Eagle, his career as a filmmaker and our love for nostalgic stories.

Bloomberg Media’s Discussion - The Great Advertising Jargon Detox
Thursday 21 April, 11:45am, The Getty Stage, Picturehouse Central

Engagement, native, agnostic: with the amount of jargon used in advertising, it's no wonder people find the industry annoying. DCM’s CEO, Karen Stacey, joins a panel of industry experts to cut the buzzwords and dicuss why people use ad blockers, whether brand names and longevity matter in media, how much we should invest in social and whether traditional media will come back into fashion.

The panel will be hosted by Adam Buxton, while other panellists include:

DCM Tuesdays and The Walt Disney Company’s The Jungle Book

Digital Cinema Media, The Walt Disney Company and Picturehouse Central are proud to host the official movie night at Advertising Week Europe via adland’s hottest monthly event, DCM Tuesdays. This exclusive family-friendly screening will showcase The Jungle Book, an all-new live action epic adventure.
