Box Office Round-up
The Odyssey delivered a sensational second weekend at the UK box office, adding £11.9m, which is down just 5% from last weekend. The Odyssey’s second weekend was bigger than Oppenheimer’s opening weekend. That takes its total after 10 days in cinemas to a HUGE £35.3m and it’s already the fourth biggest film of 2026 to date. Oppenheimer opened with £10.8m and went on to become Nolan’s biggest film in the UK & Ireland with £59.8m. The Odyssey looks like it is going to take that crown by the end of its run.
Toy Story 5 came in second on its fifth weekend, adding £1.9m, which is UP 15% from last weekend. That takes its total to £49.1m, and it’s the second biggest film of 2026 to date. With the school summer holidays now underway, there’s plenty more to come too. Toy Story 4 finished its run with £66.2m, which is a realistic target for this fifth film.
The live-action Moana again came in third, adding £1.4m on its third weekend, which is down just 10% from last weekend. That takes its total after three weekends in cinemas to £8.4m and hopefully a solid summer holiday period will see it surpass Snow White’s £11.7m.
Minions & Monsters added £1.3m on its fourth weekend, which is an increase of 15% from last weekend. That takes its total to £12.2m. The lowest performing Despicable Me film to date is the very first one, which finished on £20.2m and with the school holidays now under way, Minions & Monsters still has a chance of getting to that.
South Asian release Jana Nayagan rounded out the top five, opening with £449k, which includes £139k from previews.
Outside of the top five, both The Invite and Obsession significantly increased on last weekend’s total, The Invite by 27% and Obsession by 36% on its 11th weekend. The Invite is up to £3.2m and Obsession is up to £19.1m, which means it has surpassed last year’s biggest horror, The Conjuring: Last Rites, which finished on £18.3m.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the fourth film starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker. It’s in cinemas from Wednesday. Will it be bigger than The Odyssey?
The Buzz
Ebenezer stars Johnny Depp as arguably Charles Dickens’ most famous character. This new version of the story is once again a ghost story set in Dickens' London, following one man's supernatural journey to face his past, present and future as he fights for a second chance at redemption. The supporting cast includes Ian McKellen, Andrea Riseborough and Daisy Ridley. It’s in cinemas from 13 November, so perfect for brands in that all-important pre-Christmas corridor.
Across The Pond
The Odyssey stayed in the top spot with a terrific second weekend, adding $87m, for a new total of $286.4m. It’s heading towards $500m+! Moana came in second, adding $10.5m for a new total of $102.5m. Toy Story 5 added $10m for a new total of $448.6m in third, and the filmed version of the Broadway smash Hadestown: The Musical banked a hugely impressive $9.7m from less than 2000 screens. Minions & Monsters rounded out the top adding $9.6m for a new total of $155.4m.
