50 Years Of Bond

Last Friday, the James Bond franchise celebrated its 50th anniversary.

For 50 years, James Bond has entertained and thrilled audiences across the globe. With exotic locations, futuristic gadgets and a plethora of colourful characters, the franchise is one of the longest running in the world.

Six actors have donned the mantle of “Bond, James Bond” in 50 years on screen, including Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan and the latest Bond, Daniel Craig. The below infographic gives a graphical overview of the last 50 years of Bond.

Including the upcoming release of the latest movie in the franchise, Skyfall, this October 26th, there have been 23 films in the series.

With an industry predicted Box Office total of £50m, this would be the highest grossing Bond movie of all time, a fact not lost on the advertising community, who have invested in Cinema advertising alongside TV and Online campaigns. Advertisers including Toyota, the Marines, the RAF and Ikea have all created campaigns that will run in cinema during Skyfall.

Due to the new power of digital cinema, potential advertisers still have the chance to book in to one of the biggest movies of the year.

The franchise has always pioneered the marketing of related products, with clever product placement including brands such as Omega (Daniel Craig wears an Omega Seamaster in both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace), BMW (Pierce Brosnan’s vehicle of choice in three outings as Bond), Aston Martin and Lotus (Roger Moore utilised the Lotus’s underwater capabilities in The Spy Who Loved Me).
