Simon Rees joined DCM in May 2011 with a mission to drive forward the role of cinema in the media mix through technological innovation and the big screen’s ability to captivate audiences in its immersive environment. As the UK leader in cinema advertising, DCM, owned by Cineworld and Odeon, accounts for an 80% market share, representing clients such as Vue, Cityscreen and a further 150 independents.
Since joining the company, Simon has spear-headed DCM’s Digital Transformation, introducing faster and more flexible ways of selling, scheduling and distributing cinema advertising to the media industry. Prior to DCM, Simon held Chief Executive/Managing Director posts at media giants Mindshare and Carat, as well as the digital outdoor specialist Avanti. Cadbury’s high profile ten-year sponsorship of ITV’s Coronation Street was secured under Simon’s tenure at Carat. At Mindshare, Simon managed the merger of the Network/Ogilvy and JWT Media. Simon is a keen sportsman and a former national hockey player. Outside of media he is the Chairman of the international mental health charity, BasicNeeds
Joe Evea has held the position of Commercial Director since November 2012 after joining Digital Cinema Media (DCM) in March of the same year as Business Development Director. Joe overseas all commercial activities including the existing sales operations and the development of new revenue streams made possible since DCM adopted digital technology throughout the business to allow faster and more flexible advertising.
Since joining DCM he has worked with advertisers to develop new and interactive ways to reach consumers, as well as forging strong, strategic partnerships. Previous to this, Joe worked at Bauer Media for eight years, most recently as Head of Creative and Business Development
Zoe Jones joined Digital Cinema Media (DCM) in October 2012 as Marketing Director to oversee all Marketing and Communications activity and work as part of the Executive Team to grow and develop the overall business. Part of Zoe’s mission is to reposition the role of cinema in the media mix through championing recent technological innovations and the big screen’s ability to emotionally engage audiences through the unique cinema experience.
Zoe has spent her whole career working in the media industry and prior to DCM, Zoe held senior marketing and communications roles at global out-of-home media company Clear Channel International and PPA – the trade association for consumer and B2B magazine publishers. Zoe is also a keen photographer, a fan of sci-fi and fantasy books and films and a passionate supporter of the Welsh rugby team.
Steve Davis joined Digital Cinema Media (DCM) in August 2013 and his primary role is to engage with DCM Exhibitors, understand their business needs and maximise revenues. Working closely with the Commercial, Finance and Marketing teams, Steve is responsible for investigating and implementing new and incremental revenue streams to drive profitability and ultimately grow cinema’s share of the media market.
Prior to DCM, Steve worked at Clear Channel for nine years in Business Development and Transformation. He has worked in media for his entire career, including senior sales roles at Haymarket Media Group and Incisive Media. Steve is delighted to be working within the film and media industries as he is a huge movie fan, only rivalled by his other passion – Formula 1.
