After four years as CEO, Simon Rees has announced that he will be leaving Digital Cinema Media (DCM) at the end of January in order to pursue other interests both inside and outside of the media industry.

Since joining in May 2011, Simon has led the transformation of DCM into a modern digital sales agency.  Key developments have been the introduction of a new digital delivery system for commercials, and interactive capability through the mobile app Cinime.

The power of cinema advertising is well known but these changes have created a much more flexible, accessible and dynamic medium. As a result the number of brands advertising on Cinema has grown 60% in three years.

Simon Rees said: “I’m really proud of the transformation we have been able to achieve for DCM and cinema advertising.  I know I leave a business in great shape, with a talented young team, and well-placed for the future.”

Nigel Sharrocks, Non-executive Chairman at DCM, added: “On behalf of the Board I would like to thank Simon for all his tremendous efforts on behalf of cinema advertising and in leading DCM. We wish him all the very best for the future.”

Karen Stacey, former Head of Broadcast Sales and Bauer Access at Bauer Media, has been appointed as Interim CEO, starting in the New Year.
