2D vs 3D: Box Office

3D films achieve an average of 4x the box office revenue of the same film in 2D.
Examples of the popularity of 3D films include Avatar which took almost 90% of its box office from the 3D version and Alice in Wonderland which achieved 81% of revenues from 3D.

3D and digital screens are rolling out at a significant rate, with ODEON & UCI Cinemas Group expected to be 100% digital by the end of 2011, and other cinema exhibitors expected to follow suit. Currently there are 663 3D industry screens with DCM representing 78%*.
