Scream 4

Topping the charts this weekend was Scream 4, generating £2.1m. Despite the disappointing results in the US, it seemed to fare more positively in the UK, tracking just shy of Scream 3′s £2.4m opening back in 2000. Despite the good weather cinema admissions remain steady with the added boost from the Easter school holidays.

Family favourite Rio held well in its second weekend, dropping only -16% with an income to date of £5.5m. Newcomers to the screen, Your Highness and Red Riding Hood entered the chart at 3rd & 4th to round up the top 4.

Meanwhile Jake Gyllenhaal’s science fiction thriller Source Code also opened this weekend to second place grossing £1.3m, it ranks just behind recent sci-fi thrillers Limitless (£2.1m) and The Adjustment Bureau (£1.4m).
